报告题目:Aerosol climate forcing: Wildfire feedback and brown carbon

报告内容简介

Radiative forcing plays a significant role in the global climate system. Light-absorbing carbonaceous aerosols, such as black carbon (BC) and brown carbon (BrC), significantly affect the global radiative forcing. We investigate the photo-bleaching effect and convective transport of BrC on the basis of Studies of Emissions, Atmospheric Composition, Clouds and Climate Coupling by Regional Surveys (SEAC4RS) and Deep Convective Clouds and Chemistry Project (DC-3) measurements. These two processes have not been consistently implemented in BrC modeling in the past. We discuss the relative importance of these two processes on BrC distribution and the contributions of BrC (and BC) on DRE, precipitation, mass flux of deep convection, and the expansion of the tropics. Using a newly developed fire module for the climate modeling system, we investigate the interactions between fire aerosol emissions and climate. We show that these interactions and feedback processes extend short-term aerosol forcing into time scales of the climate system.
