报告题目:SPACE GEODESY: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY EARTH SCIENCE FIELD
The complicated dynamic processes of the Earth system manifest themselves in the form of mass transports, resulting from the interactions and feedbacks between the solid Earth and its fluid layers, including ocean, atmosphere, cryosphere and hydrosphere. These mass transport signals, notably resulting from natural and anthropogenic climate change, and transient or abrupt signals induced by natural hazards, which cover a wide range of temporal and spatial signals, are observable potentially at a timely manner by an array of modern space geodetic sensors.
This lecture presents selected applications associated with plausible objectives towards quantifying terrestrial surface and ground water storages at a local and bi-weekly or shorter temporal scale, undersea mega earthquake coseismic deformation, natural disaster events such as flood, drought, snow storms, and addressing coastal vulnerability in deltaic regions to the combined effect of regional scale sea-level rise and land subsidence.
