刘贻灿,1962年生于安徽潜山,中共党员,博士,教授、博士生导师。
1985年获合肥工业大学地质专业学士学位;1988年获合肥工业大学构造地质学专业硕士学位;2000年获中国科学技术大学地球化学专业博士学位。
1988年7月至2004年1月,在安徽省地质科学研究所(现为安徽省地质调查院)工作,专业技术职务历任助理工程师、工程师以及分别于1995年和1999年晋升为高级工程师和教授级高级工程师;1994年5月至1994年7月,被派遣去瑞士联邦高级理工学院(ETH)地质系进修构造地质学;1999年以来,多次去意大利、日本、挪威、澳大利亚、法国和美国等国进行国际合作研究与学术交流。从1993年开始,与意大利都灵大学地球科学系一直保持国际合作关系。
2004年2月起任中国科学技术大学教授,2005年起任博士生导师,2011年晋升为二级教授。
1991年获安徽省科技进步奖二等奖 (排名第二)、1997年获国家自然科学奖三等奖 (排名第三)、2002年和2008年分别获安徽省自然科学奖一等奖(均排名第二)以及2010年获国家自然科学奖二等奖(排名第二)。2001年享受国务院政府特殊津贴。
