报告题目:Quantification of fault-landslide and fault-aquifer interactions using SAR remote sensing

报告内容简介

Quantifying dynamics of the surface and shallow processes is challenging due to the stochastic nature. Spatiotemporal deformation measurements promote interdisciplinary studies for a better understanding of the rheology and geometry of the subsurface mass, and kinematics and forcing of the attendant processes. Here we rely on the contemporary airborne and satellite SAR imagery to elucidate the spatiotemporal displacements of the Slumgullion landslide in Colorado with persistent movements at 1-2 cm/day, Berkeley Hill landslides in California with the creeping Hayward fault cutting through or bounding their upper edges, and Salt Lake City aquifer in Utah with 50-mm seasonal expansion and contraction. The statistical, analytical and numerical models built on the ground displacements allow us to quantitatively characterize the mass viscosity using non-Newtonian model, the favoring environments for landsliding in the context of pull-apart basins and positive flower structures, the role of the groundwater volume strain and stress in the critical seismogenic zone, and the spatial- and time-dependent response to the hydroclimatic variability.
